 | 1st Choice Home Improvements is a full service remodeling and building contractor serving the Twin Cities Metro and Western Wisconsin market. We pride ourselves on providing quality and customer satisfaction throughout all phases of the remodeling and building process. We know that your remodeling or building project is a big part of your life and we take special care to ensure that all your needs and wants are met. We do this through careful planning and organization of your (R & B) project on an individual basis. With experience in projects from decks and bath remodels to whole house renovations and custom homes, we have the people and resources to make your vision become reality.
We not only look at your project as a job, we look at it with a process in mind. Our process begins with the first phone call. We take all of your information and organize it into a proposal binder. This binder is used to keep all of your selections and project information in one area to minimize confusion and avoid mistakes in the planning stages and during your project. We then leave the binder with you to reference in the future if needed. While working on your project, we realize we are a guest in your home. We take all precautions to leave your home safe and clean. At the end of every day we clean and organize the construction area to ensure your safety.
History
1st Choice Home Improvements was founded in 2004 by Christopher Koss. Chris has over 15 years of professional experience in the building and remodeling industry. Both of Chris' parents have companies involved in the industry. His mom is a painter and his dad owns and rehabs rental and investment properties. Chris was involved in a high school early release work program to get an early start to his career. He attended the University of Wisconsin- Platteville and attained a bachelor's degree in Building Construction Management and a minor in Business Administration. Throughout college, Chris worked at two different local construction companies and returned to his permanent job in Oconomowoc for summer breaks and a 7 month internship. Following graduation, Chris accepted the position of Project Manager. In the summer of 2004, Chris capitalized on his past experience and education and started 1st Choice Home Improvements, LLC in Oconomowoc, WI.
With years of connections and a lifetime of friends and family, it didn't take long for 1st Choice to gain a steady stream of work and an excellent client base. After a couple of years and when his wife graduated college, they relocated to Hudson, WI to be closer to her family. Aside from custom remodeling and construction, 1st Choice was approached by two community banks that needed construction expertise dealing with foreclosures. The addition of these services lead 1st Choice to their two best consecutive years in 2007 and 2008, generating almost $1.5 million in business. During this economic downturn, Chris believes that the quality and customer service that he has built within his company will enable 1st Choice Home Improvements to survive and prosper for years to come.
